The Same

Greetings to you all. It has been some time, but mainly b/c not much has changed. I am still living with my brother and his 5 children. They are getting used to me and my no-nonsense rules. It's a stricter environment for them, but they'll thank me later. Isn't that what all parents say?

I actually had an interview this morning with a great organization, GOAL (you can visit their website at www.goal.ie). I feel the interview went great, but you never know. I'm not sure how many people I am up against--only time will tell. I know many of you think that no one else on the planet wants to do what I do, live where I want to live, and sacrifice parts of the American lifestyle I don't care about; but you'd be surprised. My field is huge with hundreds of people trying to get their foot in the door. You have to be passionate, have an idealist streak, and a little bit crazy. Not a lot crazy, or they don't want you, you won't be good for the organization--just crazy enough to accept assignments where others wouldn’t set foot. The job I interviewed for today is in the capitol of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa. I would love to go there, but not to live in the capitol, rather for the experience of getting out into the country. We shall see--I of course will let you know.

I am currently working, I get $100.00 a day--it's nice. I am essentially babysitting, however my man James, is actually 20 years old. James has what is believed to be a metabolic disorder, but it is really not clear. He's been tested for years and years by all kinds of specialists, but still unknown etiology. He is non verbal, but is mobile. For my RN, MD, and RD friends he must be fed via a g-tube bolus feeds q2-3hrs. He's on many medications for seizures and lives on Vanilla Ensure. It's nice to get my bolus feeding skills back up to par (like that's hard, but I'm trying to see the positive here). James is great, and essentially just loves to watch movies all day. We have a great time.

I tried to upload some photos, but it's not working right now. I'll put them up later.

Cheers for now!

Jess
